Lee Roy Selmon's life includes football scholarships, family involvement and community involvement. First family, he's the youngest of the nine children of Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They grew up on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. He played second in football and was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. The three brothers were All-Americans. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi Award for being the best lineman in the country. Over the course of three seasons, Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975, and was selected as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in educational studies. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout his time in college. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Additionally, he started his career in the field of business. The first job he had was an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He was a member previously for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 of America's most outstanding young males. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 6-2. When he was playing college, he commanded the 1975 team. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993, as Associate Director of Sports. The College Football Hall of Fame recognized the player on the 28th of October, 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. His parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. have been awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor that made the award.
