Following Justin Bieber's bilingual remix of Despacito (2017) famous artists began to collaborate with reggaeton performers including Drake and Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna together with Maluma for Medellin (2019). In the year 2020, some reggaeton musicians felt dissatisfied with the direction it was moving towards mainstream. Rauw Alajandro is a participant in a fresh generation looking to alter the course.
