Zoe Saldana, born June 19th, 1978, was the daughter of Asalia Nazario and Aridio Saldana. Her father was Dominican while her mother is Puerto Rican. She was born in Queens. In 2010, she relocated along with her family to Dominican Republic where they spent seven years. Zoe discovered a keen passion for dancing while being abroad. She started training in the ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy in order to master ballet as well as many other styles of dance. The lessons she learned were not only a great way to exercise an eager child, but was also the best preparation for her eventual profession as an actor. Zoe's family and she moved back to United States when Zoe was 17 years old. Her love for dancing and interest in performing on stage developed.
